CD Security was built around a simple idea: great security comes from experienced auditors, direct communication, fast and careful execution, and people who actually care about the outcome of the audit.
We never wanted to become a huge security company where clients get passed through layers of salespeople, account managers, and junior auditors.
We wanted to stay close to the teams we work with, keep the founders reachable, move quickly when something is urgent, and put highly experienced auditors directly on the code.
For us, a smart contract audit is not simply about checking whether individual functions work as intended and producing a report at the end.
Every protocol is different.
The architecture is different, the economic model is different, the assumptions are different, and the ways in which somebody could potentially break the system are different.
That is why one of the most important parts of our work is understanding the protocol as a whole before looking at isolated pieces of code.
We want to understand what the team is trying to build, how value moves through the system, which assumptions the protocol relies on, where trust exists, and what happens when those assumptions are challenged.
Only then can you properly start thinking about how the system might fail.
Our audits are heavily focused on manual review.
We use modern tooling and continuously experiment with AI and new security technology, but we do not believe that tools can replace experienced security researchers.
Technology can make a great auditor better, but the human factor is still what makes the biggest difference.
The ability to understand a complex system, recognize unusual interactions, question assumptions, and think like somebody actively trying to exploit the protocol comes from experience.
This is also one of the reasons why we have deliberately kept CD Security relatively small.
We do not have hundreds of employees.
Instead, we have built relationships with some of the strongest auditors in the industry and can bring the right people together depending on the protocol, technology, and complexity of the engagement.
Our auditors have worked on major protocols across Web3, including PancakeSwap, Polymarket, 1inch, Euler, HyperLend, Centrifuge, Aave, and many others.
And this is only a fraction of the larger protocols our auditors have worked with throughout their careers.
Through this work, our team has helped secure billions of dollars in value and learned what it means to work with some of the most serious teams in the industry, where security is not treated as a formality and even a small mistake can have very real consequences.
That level of responsibility changes the way you approach the work.
You learn to be careful with assumptions, to question things that initially look correct, and to understand that the smallest detail can matter when a protocol is responsible for significant amounts of capital.
Working on systems of this level gives you something that is very difficult to learn from theory alone.
You begin to recognize patterns.
You see how a seemingly harmless assumption can become a serious vulnerability.
You understand how two perfectly reasonable components can create an unexpected attack path when they interact.
You learn that some of the most dangerous vulnerabilities are not always hidden inside complicated code. Sometimes they exist in the logic between different parts of the system.
At the same time, we believe that the experience of working with a security company should be significantly better than what has traditionally been accepted in the industry.
Security is often time sensitive.
A team may finish an important feature, upgrade, integration, or critical fix and suddenly need experienced auditors immediately.
Being told to wait several weeks before somebody can even begin looking at the code is not always realistic.
One of our strengths has always been our ability to move quickly.
When needed, we can organize the right auditors and begin an engagement the same day or within 24 hours.
But moving quickly does not mean rushing the work.
Fast and careful execution means being able to react immediately while still giving the code the attention and depth that serious security work requires.
Communication is equally important to us.
The founders remain reachable, the auditors can communicate directly with the team when necessary, and questions do not need to travel through several layers before reaching the person who can actually answer them.
If we find something important, we want the developers to understand exactly what the problem is, why it matters, and how it could affect the protocol.
And our responsibility does not end when the initial report is delivered.
We stay involved while findings are being reviewed and fixed, verify the changes, discuss possible solutions, and remain available when the team has questions.
Because ultimately, the goal of an audit is not to produce the longest possible PDF.
The goal is to make the protocol safer.
Over the years, we have also realized that sometimes the most valuable thing we can do for a team has nothing to do with finding a vulnerability.
Web3 is a relatively small industry, and through our work we have built relationships with founders, developers, security researchers, investors, business development people, infrastructure providers, and many other people across the ecosystem.
If one of the teams we work with needs the right introduction, advice from somebody with specific experience, or help solving a problem outside the audit itself, we are happy to help whenever we can.
We see the companies we audit as partners rather than transactions.
Ultimately, CD Security is not trying to become the biggest security company in Web3.
We want to be the company serious teams can reach when they need highly experienced auditors, fast and careful execution, direct communication, and people who genuinely care about helping them build something secure.
Small enough to stay personal.
Experienced enough to work on the most complex systems.
Flexible enough to move quickly.
And connected enough to provide value beyond security when our partners need it.
That is what we believe a modern Web3 security company should look like.
And that is what we are building with CD Security.
